NDID has achieved ISO 27001 certification and follows the principles of Data Security and Privacy by Design.
The platform ensures high-security standards through encrypted data transmission, with no centralized data storage. Personal information remains with the data-holding organizations and service providers, ensuring data stays under the control of authorized entities. The system is designed using a decentralized model powered by blockchain technology, ensuring that National Digital ID Co., Ltd. (the system operator) cannot access customer data. Only transaction logs are maintained for security and audit purposes, emphasizing Privacy and Security by Design. |
NDID Co., Ltd. is a joint venture among over 60 companies, including Thai commercial banks, securities companies, asset management firms, life and non-life insurance companies, electronic payment service providers, the Stock Exchange of Thailand, and Thailand Post. Each entity operates under regulatory supervision, ensuring compliance with data security laws and standards.
The DID Platform for digital identity verification and authentication through NDID has undergone testing under the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) Sandbox for Digital ID services, being the first organization to participate in such a program. |
Moreover, NDID operates under the supervision of the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA). ETDA is currently in the process of issuing licenses for businesses operating Exchange Platforms, and NDID has already submitted its application for licensing.
NDID has a rigorous membership registration process where service providers must undergo multiple stages of testing and pass security assessments related to information security and system reliability as specified by NDID.
Each identity provider (IdP) is regulated by authorized agencies such as the Bank of Thailand (BOT) and the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA). |
Furthermore, all identity providers are required to obtain a Business License for Identity Verification Services (IdP) issued by the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), ensuring compliance with strict regulatory standards for security and trustworthiness.
The legal implications of using NDID services are governed by the Electronic Transactions Act, 2001, Section 34/3.
This law presumes that a person who has undergone digital identity verification and authentication (via NDID services) is legally recognized as the actual individual. |
This presumption applies to various processes such as e-KYC, e-Signatures, and e-Contracts. If someone wishes to dispute the authenticity of a person verified through NDID, the burden of proof lies with the disputing party to provide evidence that challenges the legal presumption.
If a user receives a notification for identity verification to activate a service, they should carefully verify the request details and reference number to ensure it corresponds with the original service request initiated by the user.
